THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Posted: 16/03/2013

Have you noticed how some people are searching after knowledge of the most ridiculous things! There are some who know how many ‘bolts’ hold the Severn Bridge together, or how many gallons of paint it takes to paint the Fourth Bridge. This kind of knowledge makes no difference whatsoever to real life! Think of the words found in Isaiah 40:28-31:“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no-one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah says that there are some ‘things you need to know.’

1. DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT GOD IS ETERNAL. “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God.” While all around you decays and disappears...... When nothing seems certain anymore, God is, and always will be! God is, has always been and will always be, and he is ever the same in His eternal being. Moses wrote: “Lord, you have been our dwelling-place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” (Psalm 90:1-2).

2. DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT GOD IS THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE. “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.” Paul had this to say in Colossians 1:16: “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”

3. DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT GOD ABOUNDS IN ENERGY. “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary” The best of men loose energy and need a break. The fittest of men will fall if they fail to rest. God however, never tires, never rests, never sleeps and never needs a holiday. “He will not grow tired or weary”

4. DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT GOD IS UNSEARCHABLE. Do you not know? Have you not heard?....... his understanding no-one can fathom.” Man will never fully understand God and he will never exhaust his knowledge of God. We can spend a whole lifetime reading all the theological books in the world libraries and still not know all there is to know about God.

5. DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT GOD GIVES STRENGTH TO THE WEARY. “Do you not know? Have you not heard?............ He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Have you ever felt spiritually exhausted? Have you ever felt as if you’ve had enough and can’t take anymore? Be encouraged by the words of Isaiah: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

These are things that are good for us all to know and such knowledge can transform our lives!
