Celebrate With Us!

The Apostolic Church UK Centenary Celebrations

Pentecost Sunday 2016 (May 15th) is a day that The Apostolic Church in the UK has set aside to celebrate and commemorate her centenary. Here at Waterfront Community Church, we will celebrate!

The main focus of our celebration will be ‘the goodness of God’ who has blessed our movement in an amazing way over the past 100years. At our Sunday morning centenary service there will be a looking back with wonder at past blessings, looking to the ‘now’ of our experience with thanksgiving for God’s bountiful provisions and a looking forward with great expectations for the future. This service will be followed by an afternoon of fellowship and fun.

The psalmist in Psalm 119:68 says: "You are good and You do what is good.” Here at Waterfront we want to acknowledge this with great celebration.
The Bible defines God's goodness in two ways. One has to do with His character; the other focuses on His actions. Ps. 119:68 captures both when it says of God: "You are good and You do what is good.” The first half of that verse focuses on that fact that God is by nature good. That is, He is "morally excellent, extraordinarily beautiful, deeply glad, and extravagantly bountiful." But since this is God we're talking about, this goodness ascribed to Him is raised to the highest possible levels.
Think about it: God is the original definition of good. He is good in and of Himself. For us, goodness is an added quality. But it comes naturally for Him. God is not just the greatest of beings; He is the Best.
But how do you see the true character of a person? By his actions!

So the second strand of definition for God's goodness concentrates on what He does. And the Bible is abounding with descriptions that point to His kindness, His mercy, His steadfast love, His generosity. God is disposed to give to human beings beyond all deserving, all the time.
The Apostolic Church as a movement and we here at Waterfront Community Church as a part of that movement, rejoices in the goodness of God towards us and will mark this centenary of our movement by celebrating the abundant goodness of our God.
Celebrate with us!
“Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness. They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness. The LORD is gracious and merciful” (Psalm 145: 6-8)

How good is the God we adore,
Our faithful unchangeable Friend!
His love is as great as His power,
And knows neither measure nor end!

Tis Jesus the First and the Last,
Whose Spirit shall Guide us safe home,
We’ll praise Him for all that is past,
And trust Him for all that’s to come.
